Black Salt

The ashes of fireplaces and home hearths have been an important part of magic for a very long time.  The ancient Greeks, Celts and sometimes Norse people would sprinkle the hearth ashes around the outside perimeter of their houses and properties.  It was believed that the ashes would ward off negative anergy and keep ill intentions out their houses and away from their families.

     This Black Salt takes an entire year to make.  The bonfire is lit at all the major astrological points of the year. Winter and Summer Solstices, Spring and Autumn equinoxes and other significant points throughout the year.  At each bonfire more wood, herbs, oils and incense are added onto the ashes of the previous fire.  At the halfway point between Summer and Autumn the ashes are gathered.  More protective herbs, oils and incense are added, and it is all ground into a fine powder.  It is then mixed with Epsom salts, as the salts are not harmful to the ground.  The Salt comes with a hand burned wooden spoon with protective symbols wood burned into it.  The symbols are the astrological sign for Saturn, planet of boundaries, control, safety and the alchemical symbol for salt, cleansing, purifying and amplifying.  All 4 elements are represented to bring harmony and flow to the protective energy.  Creating a powerful combination of the Salt and the spoon working in conjunction to create and powerfully protective and cleansing energy that enhances spells and intentions.

This Black Salt is very fine and difficult to clean up, using barriers when using for spell work inside is highly recommended.  This is not intended for children under the age of 12.
